Lauterbach presents leading debug solutions at the RISC-V Summit in Munich
Hoehenkirchen, Germany - June 13, 2024 - Under the headline "RISC-V Debugging made Easy", Lauterbach, the leading supplier of RISC-V debug and trace tools, will demonstrate at the RISC-V Summit in Munich how its TRACE32 debug and trace tools can support developers, even in complex scenarios.

Demo Theater Talk: "Heterogeneous Multicore Debugging of RISC-V Cores in Complex Chips
As part of the Demo Theater Talks, two of Lauterbach's system engineers and RISC-V experts will present "Heterogeneous Multicore Debugging of RISC-V Cores in Complex Chips". In this talk, they will show how developers can overcome any debug challenge in heterogeneous scenarios with the right tools and debug strategies. They will explain how cores from RISC-V and other architectures can be debugged simultaneously using a single debug interface and a single debug probe to gain insight into the entire embedded system. The presentation covers real-time on- and off-chip tracing for all major RISC-V trace systems as well as the use of standardized RISC-V debug and trace interfaces. All in all, the attendees will learn that multicore debugging with RISC-V cores is not rocket science and that there are efficient methods to master even complex chips with complex software configurations.
Three demos show debugging and tracing of different complex scenarios
At the Lauterbach booth in the exhibition area, developers can explore three different complex real-world debug demos. Implemented on an AMD UltraScale SoC FPGA, Lauterbach will demonstrate simultaneous multi-core debugging with a RISC-V RV64 core and one or two Arm® Cortex-A53 CPUs, using the Arm® CoreSight infrastructure for both architectures, with access to the RISC-V debug module for the RISC-V core.
Lauterbach's Tessent demo shows how real-time trace can be realized for complex RISC-V systems: Two RV64 soft cores are implemented in an AMD Zync 7000 SoC. The demo explains how they can either be debugged and traced together via USB or debugged via JTAG and traced via serial trace.
Last but not least, Lauterbach's Andes demo shows the new standard N-Trace support for the first time. For this purpose, a softcore Andes AX45 RV64 was implemented in an AMD Xilinx Kintex-7 FPGA as part of an ADP-XC7K410 development board from Andes Technology, which among other things implements an on-chip trace buffer. The chip's trace IP is provided by Andes and complies with the future RISC-V N-Trace standard. The unique demo shows for the first time a real-time trace of RV64 cores according to the new standard.
